Restaurants and Nightlife
You can easily imagine the great numbers of restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, theatres, cinemas and other venues for entertainment which can be encountered in Monaco. After all, having fun in style is one of the favorite pastimes in this lair of the rich and powerful.
Restaurants
- Le Louis XV
Address: In the Hôtel de Paris, place du Casino
Open hours: Thurs-Mon 12:15-1:45pm and 8-9:45pm; also June-Sept Wed 12:15-1:45pm
General info: It is said that one can find the finest staff in Monaco at “Le Louis XV”.
As for the décor, it is pleasantly light, changing according to the seasons. The dishes you will be served here are sometimes unexpected modern interpretations of Provençal and northern Italian cuisine.
- Le Grill de l’Hôtel de Paris
Address: In the Hôtel de Paris, place du Casino
Open hours: Daily noon-2:15pm and 8-10:15pm
General info: The view from this restaurant is simply stupendous, with the casino on one side and the always yacht-crowded harbor of Old Monaco on the other. The Modern French cuisine of this place will offer you a great variety of dishes, but some of its best are the grilled fish – a lot of types of fish.
- Restaurant du Port
Address: Quai Albert-1er
Open hours: Daily noon-2:30pm and 8-10:30pm
General info: If you want to taste seafood dishes Italian-style, head on to the quays of the old port. Watch for a large-windowed restaurant, bustling with crowds of noisy customers and beleaguered waiters and you found your quarry. We recommend the tagliatelle with smoked salmon and spaghetti with lobster.
- Bar et Boeuf
Address: In the Sporting d’Eté Monte Carlo, av. Princess Grace
Open hours: Open late May to late Sept 8pm-1am
General info: The international gastronomy favored here will regale you with exquisite dishes based on beef and, less, on fish. One suitable example of what you can eat here is the beef with a sauté of taggiasche olives and wine glaze, served with fried spiny artichokes.
Bars and nightlife
- Le Box
Address: 39 Av. Princesse Grace
Open hours: Nightly from 11pm till dawn
General info: This place combines rich elegance with the fiery atmosphere which can be encountered in only the most high-strung clubs in the world.
- Salle Garnier
Address: In the Monte Carlo Casino (in the Atrium du Casino)
General info: Expect lots of gilt and belle époque nuances reminiscent of a 19th-century opera house typical for cities like Paris. The concerts which are held periodically even sound differently, more subdued and subtle, and it’s all in the décor, not in some acoustic property of the place.
- Tiffany
Address: rue du Pointier
General info: The crowd you’re likely to find here is no younger than 25 and no older than 40. If that suits you and you have the fat wallet suitable for all the fat glamour, this might easily become your favorite pub in Monaco.
- Les Folies Russes
Address: In the Grand Hotel, 12 av. des Spilugues
General info: When in Monaco for the first time, you will soon hear about this famous dinner-dance cabaret. Many like the shows here more than those at the casino. Besides staring at semi-nude dancers, you can also have dinner here (food is served from 8:30 to 9:30 pm).
